Palm Beach County, Fla., Doctors Focus on Patients' Safety.

May 21--WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- After three years focused almost exclusively on driving down the soaring cost of medical malpractice insurance, Palm Beach County doctors on Thursday showed they also want to help reduce medical mistakes that can harm patients and lead to malpractice claims.
About 100 doctors gathered at the Palm Beach County Convention Center for the first Patient Safety Symposium, where they talked about efforts to reduce errors in the operating room and in physicians' offices. At the event, sponsored by the Palm Beach County Medical Society, local hospital administrators described new methods to cut errors.
