Apr. 27--QUESTION: Last week you ran a letter from an older woman who felt she lost her job because she could not learn how to use the computer. I think she was much too passive. She should have taken it upon herself to learn, even if no one would take the time to teach her.

I learned to type on a manual typewriter in high school in 1953. It wasn't until many years later that I was introduced to a computer. I learned by studying the manuals that came with the system and also attending night classes in our adult education program at our local high school.

My advice is to take some classes and be sure to ask questions and take notes. I am now retired, and ...
