May 3--Thai J. Press Group, better known as a men's underwear producer with brands including Look, has diversified into the electronics retail business by acquiring a 40 percent stake in Mega Store Co which is gearing up to compete with sector leader Power Buy.
Suthipong Suppanichwong, the chairman of Thai J. Press, said a new joint venture called J.P. Mega Co had been set up with registered capital of 100 million baht to assume the operations of Mega Store Co.
Thai J. Press and Mega Store each own 40 percent of the new venture and the remaining 20 percent is held equally by executives of the two companies.
