May 3--The Pattani Chamber of Commerce is confident the government will go ahead with plans for a 1.4-billion-baht halal food project in the province regardless of last week's violent clashes in the South.
Chamber president Damrong Chaiwanon said the violence would definitely affect the economies of the three provinces in the Deep South -- Pattani, Yala and Narithiwat -- but only for the next two to three months.
"But it is unlikely to have an effect on the food industrial estate project," Mr Damrong said.
