Apr. 30--HACKENSACK, N.J. -- Jerry Lombardo is always moving. Even when he sits, he doesn't sit still. The real estate manager hasn't stopped his frenetic pace since he started creating the city's special improvement district more than a year ago.
Take Tuesday afternoon. Lombardo had piles of papers on his desk. But he couldn't look at them because he was fielding telephone calls.
He told people he couldn't talk for too long, but he talked anyway. For a long time.
"You see what I'm doing?" said Lombardo. "I barely have time to do what I'm doing now."
But this is Lombardo's life, and he has eagerly teamed with a group of Main Street merchants who have made downtown revitalization a high priority. Other merchants liked his work ethic so much that they let Lombardo head the group. They ask: Who better to spearhead a Main Street revival than a guy who has too much to do?
"It's a good team and, yes, he's a good leader of the team," said Ed Decker, owner of Musically Yours on Main Street.
