Classic is ageless

If the classic, "aging'' design of the 2005 911 is so boring (Letters, May 31), why did Nissan use so much of its shape in the design of its new Z? It brings to mind a couple of old adages: "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery,'' and "If it ain't broke, don't fix it.''

G.E. Russell, Aurora, Colo.

For those who criticize the next 911's styling, you need to drive it, live it and feel it under terry cloth to fully appreciate the performance and design changes. There really is no substitute.

Mike Friedman, Rockville, Md.

Car computers can't crash

I enjoyed Kevin Wilson's May 31 column on over-complicated electronics in cars. If I found that a car I intended to buy had even one bit, byte or nano-fraction of software designed by Microsoft, I'd run the other way. We can be thankful that cars don't function with the same "reliability'' as do Microsoft products, else our highways would be impassable.
