China's growing clout as a producer of low-cost, high-quality auto parts is threatening the future of some American auto parts makers and increasing the pressure on local economies here and across the United States.
The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday that American automakers, facing intense price competition and eager to take advantage of low labor costs in China, are pushing their domestic suppliers to either match the low prices charged for Chinese-made parts or open operations in China.
