Through two innovative education programs, Peace Corps volunteers are sharing the knowledge and skills they gained overseas with young students in America's 50 states.

Early in his administration, President George Bush and the nation's governors rededicated themselves to achieving excellence in education for all Americans by the turn of the century. Meeting at the University of Virginia on the historic campus designed by Thomas Jefferson, they established six national education performance goals.
