A "wakefulness-promoting agent" approved to improve wakefulness in patients with excessive sleepiness associated with obstructive sleep apnea/hypopnea syndrome (OSA/HS) and shaft work sleep disorder (SWSD). First approved in 1998 for improving wakefulness in narcolepsy.

* Recommended Dosage: 200 mg once a day, in the morning (for OSA/HS) or an hour before starting work shift (for SWSD).
