BELLEVUE, WASH. -- Most of the key information you need to obtain during a sports examination is going to come from the history, Dr. Michael C. Koester said at a conference sponsored by the North Pacific Pediatric Society.
While the physical exam is not to be slighted, most pertinent findings uncovered--or overlooked--in a physical examination will also come to light in a thorough medical history, said Dr. Koester, a pediatrician in private practice and high school team physician in Hermiston, Ore.
"There have been multiple studies ... on sports physicals, looking at findings, and most things are going to come out in the history," he said.
