CAMBRIDGE, MASS. -- Limiting or at least modifying athletic routines is always necessary when treating overuse injuries of the shoulder and elbow in children and adolescents, Dr. Brian Grottkau said at a meeting on primary care pediatrics sponsored by Harvard Medical School.

If the activity isn't modified and the injury continues, he said, there is a higher likelihood of joint pain later in life.
