Performance artist Chin Woon Ping writes of her intentions in staging her play Psycho Wracks, a Tempest-inspired work featuring Caliban's mother Sycorax as sole character, and goes on to describe the play itself, performed in Tokyo at the Third Conference on Asian Women's theatre in 2001, and at the West End Theatre in New York later that year. Laurie Anderson, Rachel Rosenthal, and Yoko Ono are among the artists whose "political art" inspired her expansion and revision of Sycorax's story, Ping says.
