Fred Kummer, president of HBE Corp., is among those who are interested in acquiring the troubled Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Clayton.
Kummer's interest in the Ritz has surfaced as the luxury hotel is having trouble generating sufficient cash flow to meet debt payments on a $62 million loan from Boatmen's Bank of St. Louis, according to hotel and real estate sources.
Two other hotel investor groups from Denver and Kansas City also are said to have an interest in the Ritz.
The Ritz-Carlton is a 301-room luxury hotel whose owners include John McDonnell, chief executive of McDonnell Douglas Corp., and James McDonnell III, a former vice president at McDonnell Douglas.
