The rates for advertising space in one of Tampa Bay's two daily papers will go up in 1992, but the average jump will be less than it has been in past years, media planners say.

"It's not real good right now," says St. Petersburg Times Advertising Director Al Corey, referring to the economy and its sapping of retail advertising dollars. "We've tried to minimize those increases."

The Times' average increase will be about 3% next year, Corey says. No average increase was available for The Tampa Tribune, but according to that publication's rate card, the price of full circulation ads will go up an average of about 9%. The price of full circulation ads for the Times …
