Buddy Rice has heard enough of the rags-to-riches, hooray-for-Americans talk coming out of his first Indy 500 win Sunday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. What he wants to talk about is winning an Indy Racing League championship, the next big thing on his agenda as a competitive, nail-everyone-to-the-wall race driver.
That explains why when team owner Bobby Rahal, a former winner who knows about Indy 500 hangovers, approached Rice on Monday, a pep talk wasn't required. Said Rice of his focus on winning the title, "Absolutely.''
