More R on the way?

With the success of the R32 in the United States, Volkswagen of America is looking at bringing a line of other R cars to the States. Volkswagen Individual GmbH, a Wolfsburg-based company owned by VW but with its own distribution, development and finance divisions, is working with VW engineers to develop a line of factory-tuned vehicles and accessories similar to AMG and Mercedes-Benz. Volkswagen Individual parts and accessories are already available in Europe. No deadline has been set for the decision, but with the next-generation GTI, Golf, Jetta and Passat ready to hit these shores in the next 24 months, a decision on the R line is expected soon.
