Jun. 5--Roasted coffee sporting the brand name "Sinouk" and images of historical sites from Laos might work in drawing French coffee lovers to try beans harvested from the soil of its former colony.

But "Made In Laos" doesn't really work for Thai consumers. Take that same coffee, replace the picture of Vientiane's famed Wat Thatluang with Paris's Eiffel Tower, change the name to "Le Cafe' Paris," and you may very well have a hit premium brand ready for Bangkok buyers.
