Jun. 4--State banks need to boost lending in rural communities that are the real engines of future economic growth, according to Finance Minister Somkid Jatusripitak.
Dr Somkid said state banks such as the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Co-operatives needed to join forces to build credit networks in rural communities to fuel the government's agenda of economic transformation, aimed at restructuring the country's entire economic foundation.
Bankers needed to rethink their practices to help the state meet policy goals set over the next three years, he said.
