Louisiana insurer curbed by regulators. (Physician's National Risk Retention Group to stop its practice in Maryland)

Louisiana-based insurer Physician's National Risk Retention Group has reached an agreement with state insurance regulators to stop writing or renewing any insurance policies in Maryland.

Physician's National, which is operating under a conservation order from the state of Louisiana, writes only medical malpractice insurance. The insurer wrote $1.4 million worth of coverage to Maryland doctors last year.
