Frist delays tort reform vote

The Senate GOP leader postponed a vote on a bill that would move more class-actions suits from state to federal courts, which are often more skeptical of such claims. Democrats sought the delay, insisting the Senate first tackle a defense spending bill.

Hastert: Energy bill vote likely

The House speaker said surging gas prices have prompted the GOP to again push a bill to boost energy production, including drilling in Alaska. The House passed it last year, but it has stalled in the Senate.
