Consumer confidence falls again
The ABC/Money Magazine Consumer Comfort Index fell 2 points to -18 last week, as high gas prices continue to weigh on sentiment. The index hit a 2-year high of -3 in mid-Jan. Just 34% of Americans said it was a good time to buy, the lowest since late March '03. Attitudes about the national economy and personal finances also fell.
NAM: Fed to start slow, speed up
The Fed will have to raise interest rates soon, and probably will do so gradually ahead of the Nov. presidential election, National Association of Manufacturers President Jerry Jasinowski told CNBC. Jasinowski expects rate hikes to start on June 30 and accelerate after the election. He said the manufacturing sector is in good shape to handle higher rates.
