Peter Hueser stepped aside in April as one of the principal investors attempting to bring the Montreal Expos to Las Vegas around the time a fraud investigation began into his Chicago-area lending company.

Hueser was part of Las Vegas Sports and Entertainment Co. (LVSE), which is working in conjunction with Teamscape to acquire the Expos.

Hueser and his former company, Commercial Loan Corp., were sued by two banks that claimed more than $18 million was diverted. A federal grand jury and Illinois and federal agencies are investigating, Chicago Business reported.…
