Jun. 1--Thailand will propose that Asian countries step up the consumption of bio fuels to help reduce heavy dependence on imports of conventional fossil fuels.
The proposal will be submitted to an Apec ministerial meeting on energy from June 7-10 in the Philippines.
"As Asia will become the top energy consumer in the future, the region should shift its energy consumption to bio fuels as an alternative to help cushion the impact of the soaring oil prices," said Energy Minister Prommin Lertsuridej.
