The word "spin" often carries a pejorative connotation. Not for James Mazzo, chief executive of Advanced Medical Optics, which makes contact lens products and ophthalmic surgery gear. As he puts it: "We were the result of a spin."
Mazzo is referring to the 2002 spin-off of Advanced Medical from former parent Allergan.
"Just two years (later), we've created a new identity," he said.
