Death puts Fiat future in doubt
Umberto Agnelli, who became chairman of Fiat after the death of his brother Giovanni 15 months ago, died of cancer Thursday. Who will lead the maker of Fiat and Ferrari cars is up in the air. Two of Giovanni's grandsons were groomed, but are still in their 20s. General Motors, which owns a 10% stake in Fiat, has the first right of refusal to buy the company starting in '05. Shares rose 2% to 7.06 on speculation the firm will be sold.
