Pilgrim's Pride hit by bird flu
The poultry producer destroyed a breeder flock that lays eggs for hatching after routine blood tests found a bird flu strain; the infection hit 3 months after avian flu outbreaks in Texas, Delaware and Pennsylvania prompted overseas bans on U.S. chicken. Pilgrim's Pride said the virus can be contained since the affected flock was far from any other poultry farms. Shares fell 3.5% to 25.88.
** Coca-Cola said Neville Isdell will assume the roles of chairman and CEO on Monday, 7 months earlier than expected. He succeeds retiring Doug Daft.
