The power in Ray Sanchez III's left fist has always been a knee-buckling force. It still is.
But on Friday at Santa Ana Star Casino the 21-year-old southpaw from Albuquerque's South Valley, better known as "Little Ray," showed he's taking more heed to the art and importance of defense.
Sanchez, looking sure of himself, took a momentous step as Albuquerque's most promising young fighter with a third-round technical knockout of James "The Gentleman" Johnson in a welterweight bout scheduled for 10 rounds.
