2004 MAY 30 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- New findings by University of Edinburgh researchers may lead to treatments for both obesity and now fatty liver, an increasingly common condition of excessive fat deposits in the liver.
Fatty liver affects between 5-10% of the adult male population and is linked to heart disease. The research results are revealed, in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, at a time when there is a worldwide increase in fat-related illnesses including diabetes and heart disease.
The scientists' discoveries may help some men with fatty liver, a presently untreatable condition which increases the risk of heart and liver…
