Swedish paper mill meets environmental challenge

Munksjo paper in the central Swedish town of Jonkoping is well into its second century of establishing standards for efficient business operation. From the early days of managing a small straw paper mill to its present international business development plan, the company has worked hard at strengthening its market position and leading the industry in such areas as environmental protection.

Munksjo's Aspa Bruk mill, for example has invested 50 million Swedish crowns in environmental programs over a recent three-year period. The mill was the first such factory in the world to use oxygen bleaching in a closed system.
