Models of quality and reliability?
I'd rather take the 40-plus-year-old MG, Lotus or Triumph [over Solstice] that you also drove in England.
Bruce Cameron, Evans, Ga.
Solstice: Warm and cold
What is GM's problem? Sure it had the fastest drawing-to-concept with the Pontiac Solstice (Cover Story, May 3)-but that was 2002. It is taking four years to get the car to market? GM needs serious help. Solstice is a beautiful car, but by the time it gets to market it will be obsolete.
Jamie Kirkman, New Bern, N.C.
The Solstice folks at GM must have had some about-to-expire frequent-flyer miles. They used these to send you to test drive a convertible in wet, chilly England in February. This strange junket featured a car with crude interior panels, unfinished exterior, manual fold-down top, low seats, poor driver visibility, unrefined suspension, less-than-smooth shifter and light steering feel. Now, please explain why a photo of this sad vehicle shares space on the AutoWeek cover with the word "good.''
