Formula One as we know it might be kaput: The FIA, the series governing body, has published controversial preliminary proposals for what amounts to a new series, for adoption in 2008. Those proposals include new technical regulations intended to reduce costs and improve the show.
The proposals will be discussed at a special meeting on May 4 in Monaco with team principals. But the FIA does not require the owners' unanimous agreement, because three years' notice has been given.
