West McLaren Mercedes is urgently preparing a whole new Formula One race car to replace the MP4-19 in a bid to rescue its season. Despite promise in pre-season tests, performance and reliability problems have left Kimi Raikkonen and David Coulthard well behind the lead pack. McLaren technical director Adrian Newey confirmed the replacement car, the MP4-19B, though it might not appear before July.
35 years of FF
The 35th anniversary of Formula Ford will be celebrated at Lime Rock Park on Memorial Day Monday. NASCAR Busch North cars will race Saturday, as will F2000 cars. On Monday, May 31, the FF1600 cars will run as part of a race schedule that includes the Speed World Challenge GT and Touring Cars, the Miata Pro Series and Formula BMW. More than 60 FFs are expected; they'll run two qualifying sessions, a non-qualifiers race and a 25-lap feature. Ten years ago Lime Rock hosted a 25th anniversary event with more than 150 entrants.

What is the Pikes Peak Hill Climb if not just a big, long drift? Hence, Falken Tire team drifters Calvin Wan, Yoshinori Koguchi and Seigo Yamamoto will drift the paved section of the famed Pikes Peak Highway on June 26th during the lunch break in conjunction with the finals of the Hill Climb competition. On June 27 the Drift Showoff continues at Pikes Peak International Raceway with a professional drifting exhibition, clinic and competition.
