* A lot of guys spend the early days of dating looking for signs that they should get the hell out while they still can. Yes, it's pathetic and self-defeating, but it's true. So the trick to reaching bona fide girlfriend status is less about blowing us away than it is about not driving us away. Start by side-stepping the behaviors we consider psycho chick (or at least clingy chick) tip-offs.

Calling Incessantly

Guys convince themselves that you think about them nonstop, but they don't want evidence of it. When a girl starts obsessively checking in, it spells S-T-A-L-K-E-R. Worse, we don't want to look like we're tied to a leash if the constant calls happen when we're with the boyz. Derrick *, 26, can relate: "I dated a woman who called me so often that I had to upgrade my cell plan. If I didn't pick up, she sent a text to my BlackBerry. I felt like I was under house arrest." The deal is, if you resist dialing up so often, your guy will actually look forward to your calls. And you'll have something left to talk about.

Pulling a "Leave Behind"

Dudes aren't as dumb as they look. When you "accidentally" leave your bra hanging on the back of our bathroom door, we know that (a) You want an excuse to return or (b) You're marking your territory. If the relationship isn't serious yet, your things don't belong at his house. And if you force the issue, it will backfire.
