Chico's FAS gained over 50% from a July 8 breakout before hitting a new intraday high Dec. 2. The women's apparel retailer sliced its 50-day line three days later and found a bottom Dec. 16, reversing to close near its intraday high on heavy volume. Since then it's made its way back above the 50-day and is working on its fifth week of a new basing pattern. Most sound bases take at least seven weeks to form.
Profit growth stepped up the past two quarters, from 17% to 47% to 67%. Sales growth rose from 30% to 39% to 53%. Chico's Overall Rank, as tracked by Stock Checkup, is third in its 64-stock Retail-Clothing/Shoe group. But ...
