Byline: JAMES DETAR
There's the Hollywood version of martial arts. And then there's the real thing.
TV's Discovery Channel is combining both in a two-hour show that features technology from Nvidia Corp.'s 3-D graphics chips.
The show, called "Xtreme Martial Arts," promises to do the best job ever of showing the mechanics and artistry of martial artists.
It was slated to debut Sunday and will be repeated Thursday, Friday and Sunday, Dec. 7.
The project is the brainchild of Mickey Stern and John Brenkus, co-owners of Base Productions. They show viewers, through an animated X-ray, body actions while martial artists spar.
They mapped the animated X-ray video to the torsos of the live-action martial artists.
