Chevron blasts through Q1 views
The No. 2 U.S. oil company earned $2.37 a share ex items, up 17% from a year ago and 35 cents over views. Higher energy prices and refining margins offset a 2% drop in oil and gas production from older fields and property sales. Revenue rose 9% to $33.57 bil. ChevronTexaco rose 1% to 91.50.
** Anadarko Petroleum shares rose 1% to 53.58 after the oil firm made $1.70 a share ex items in Q1, 28 cents over views. Revenue rose 16% to $1.46 bil.
** Schlumberger sold its remaining 14.5% in Atos for $557 mil. The price was at the low end of views. Shares fell less than 1% to 58.53.
** KeySpan plans to sell or spin off its remaining 55% stake in Houston Exploration, valued at about $750 mil. The company also reported Q1 EPS of $1.53, 4 cents over views. Shares rose nearly 2% to 36.15.
