2004 MAY 6 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- P73 A4T14 genotype is associated with risk of cervical cancer.

A "possible association between cervical cancer and p73 G4C14-to-A4T14 in exon 2 and p53 Arg72Pro polymorphisms" was examined in an incident case-control study comprised of 112 cervical cancer patients, 320 healthy female controls and 122 non-cancer female outpatient controls," wrote investigators in Japan.

"Risk estimation for each genotype by an unconditional logistic model demonstrated a possible association between the p73 A4T14 variant and the risk of cervical cancer in" a "Japanese population (OR = 1.57; 95%CI, 0.99-2.48, P = 0.053)," reported Y. Niwa and colleagues.
