XIAMEN, April 1 Asia Pulse - Taiwan-based Trans Asia Airways and mainland China's Xiamen Airlines tied a cooperative knot Wednesday to jointly offer convenient cross-strait travel packages mainly targeting mainland-based Taiwan businesspeople.
The cross-strait travel packages, based on the extended "mini three links" framework, feature two-way airline services between Taipei, Kaohsiung, Kinmen, Xiamen and Macau and from those cities to 50 other destinations around the world.
Trans Asia President Sun Hung-hsiang and Xiamen Airlines President Wu Rongnan signed the cooperation agreement on behalf of their respective companies at a ceremony held at the Xiamen Airlines Jinyan Hotel in downtown Xiamen.
The convenient cross-strait travel packages plan is aimed at upgrading the southern Chinese coastal city of Xiamen to the third major transit center behind Hong Kong and Macau for mainland-based Taiwanese businesspeople, believed to number at least 800,000, Wu said.
