For the first time in 127 years, this year the Southwest Division held the division competitions at the University of Hawaii. After careful consideration of the additional expense this would cost students and teachers, it was decided it was time to take the competitions to the islands! Our great appreciation goes to Joanna Fan, Hawaii MTA president, Barbara Dyer, local coordinator, the members of the HMTA and parents and friends, who pitched in to make this one of the most valuable and exciting division competitions we have ever held.
We were pleased to find we had more entrants than usual, and many parents and teachers took advantage of being in such a beautiful, warm climate and attended the competitions.
