Bantam Doubleday Dell has "adopted" first grades in five public schools, one in each of New York City's boroughs.

Although the publishing group's contribution to its corporate hometown will vary according to the different needs of the schools, each school at the least will receive a library of 1000 BDD books for young readers, to be followed by visits from their authors and illustrators. Another library, of parenting books, will be provided, as well as workshops for parents by the company's authors.
