All great generations had their documentaries. The music and the youth of the '60s were pretty well chronicled in Woodstock; the Civil War had Ken Burns. Now this. While front-wheel-drive performance enthusiasts might not be quite as powerful a demographic group as some who have come before them, their presence is nonetheless being felt throughout the country and especially in the auto industry. But until now no one had tried to get the import scene on film, or in this case, on digital.
R-Generation didn't start out with such a lofty ambition. Originally it was just supposed to chronicle a season of the traveling car show competition and dance festival known as Hot Import Nights. But then it grew to include the whole import scene, from beginning to present, and it grew well. So well, in fact, that the historical parts of R-Generation are the best parts of the project.
