RAYNAL: This is one of my favorite minivans. It is the right size, looks good and feels well built. Remember the long-term MPV we had? I was one of the few on staff who liked it. And I liked it a lot. I've driven minivans that feel like full-size SUVs in their weight and bulk (hello, Ford Windstar). The Mazda is downright zippy compared to some, is easy to maneuver around town and cruises nicely on the freeway.
This car can haul darn near everything a jumbo ute can, and get much better mileage doing it.
Mazda is on a roll with the awesome little 3, the solid 6 and this MPV (not to mention, of course, the RX-8).
MANDEL: Strong runner, this. Strong in the sense of its looks and in what it can do. But $30 large? That's strong, too. A guy walked up to me at the bank and asked if I put the BMW wheels on the van! Imagine that.
