Putnam investigated on rebates
Massachusetts' regulators are investigating into whether Putnam Investments used marketing and distribution fees to pay $40,000 in annual rebates to a trade union at the heart of the mutual fund company's market-timing scandal. An earlier probe found Putnam, a unit of insurer Marsh & McLennan, let members of the Boilermakers Local No. 5 to market-time funds for years.
