Fast food chains see sales rising
No. 3 U.S. hamburger chain Wendy's had sales rise 9.9% in March, thanks to new salad items on the menu. Same-store sales rose 7.8% at its franchises. Rival hamburger chain Jack in the Box raised its earnings from 28 cents a share to 42-44 cents a share on comps, beating the 4%-4.5% forecast with 7.5%. Wendy's shares rose 1% to 41.07, while Jack in the Box shot up 15.5% to 28.83, its highest level in 3 years.
