Two zombie films released within weeks of each other? That counts as the revival of a genre in our book. We'd call them zom coms but unfortunately the US offering, directed by Zack Snyder and starring Sarah Polley, sort of forgot to add in the humour. (You know, all that ironic stuff there was in the 1979 classic, about how all consumers are really zombies.) Dawn of the Dead features bags of gore but fails even to be slightly scary.
The British riposte, Shaun of the Dead, has no such problems with focus.
