Warren Mass's article ("A Mockery of Black Heritage," February 23 issue) was of special interest to me for it brought back memories of long ago. In 1948, while teaching in London, England, I was encouraged to go hear Paul Robeson, who was performing in Albert Hall. I had never heard of him but when I was told that he was a great concert singer of classical music, of course, I wanted to attend. I was absolutely delighted when he began singing, for he had one of the most lovely voices I had ever heard. As he began to sing I settled back in my seat, closed my eyes and began daydreaming.
