2004 APR 1 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- The National Women's Health Resource Center (NWHRC) has issued a new publication in conjunction with Endometriosis Awareness month.
"Understanding Endometriosis," the latest in the series of "Fast Facts for Your Health," is now available online at the NWHRC website, www.healthywomen.org. It is part of an online information kit about the difficult-to-diagnose condition that affects more than 5.5 million American women of reproductive age.
"The typical woman with endometriosis has visited at least four doctors over the course of 5 to 7 years before getting a correct diagnosis," according to Amy Niles, president and CEO of the National Women's Health Resource Center. "Our goal is to ensue that women have the information they need to get diagnosed and treated as quickly and thoroughly as possible. The more women know the more they can work with their healthcare professionals to shorten the time between the onset of symptoms and effective treatment."
