2004 APR 1 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Spectral Genomics, Inc., has entered a license agreement that provides Spectral with a worldwide license to certain Affymetrix patents to manufacture and sell spotted DNA arrays for use in the diagnostics market once the necessary regulatory approvals of Spectral Genomics' products have been obtained.
The license supports Spectral Genomics' Constitutional Chip to be introduced in 2004 as well as anticipated specialty arrays to be used in cancer diagnostics.
While selling these chips as research products, Spectral Genomics is seeking regulatory approval for these products as diagnostics. This license provides additional intellectual property enhancing Spectral's proprietary position in BAC clone arrays for research in cytogenetics and molecular biology.
