2004 MAR 31 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- BioPort Corporation announced the sale of U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA)-licensed anthrax vaccine, BioThrax, to the Taiwanese government, marking the company's entry into the commercial market with its flagship product.
"There is a significant world-wide demand for anthrax vaccine for the protection of both military and civilian populations, including first responders," Bob Kramer, the company's president, said. "Our primary focus continues to be making vaccine available for the protection of U.S. service members and our citizens. At the same time, we are responding to a number of U.S. allies interested in obtaining the vaccine."
Officials in Taiwan will used the anthrax vaccine to immunize laboratory workers and to create a stockpile for emergency use.
