Adobe has licensed its Emerald PostScript RIP to Dainippon Screen, to incorporate it into its new EM-RIP 323 imagesetter, first discussed at Drupa and planned for release in the second quarter of 1992. (See Vol. 19, No. 19, p. 22.) Part of DS's Scanica line, it is targeted at commercial printers, service bureaus and color shops.

The EM-RIP 323 consists of a monochrome input scanner with a scan resolution of up to 3,750 lines per inch, the RIP and a recorder with a variable resolution of 750 or 1,500 dpi.
